Booyah!

Booyah! was written by our friend, Denver comic Chris Charpentier, originally conceived when he was 8. For us it has been a fun experiment. Like all of our films, a way to play with technique or try something new. We really took our time with the making of it, which from storyboard to color correction, took about a year. We spent a number of months recording foley with honorary Nix Bro Travis Funk in his recording studio. The process has been slow but creative, collaborative and fun. Filmmaking is not always something you can take your time with, so when you are allowed to you gotta enjoy it.

Lund On Living

We shot these dramatized versions of a few of Denver Comedian Nathan Lund's jokes in late 2008 and had a butt load of fun with them. Didn't spend a dime.

All You Haters

Finally! This track was supposed to be a "summer jam". Unfortunately, video takes time. Several months, in fact. We shot late this summer and early fall around Denver, including locations like Pearl Velo, Hi-Dive, and Cheesman Park. It was a blast to shoot and edit, and cost us a grand sum of $0. It feels great to finally post. Also, I patented the guitar lick, so don't try to steal that move. Enjoy.

Rainbow Chasers Deleted Scenes

Rainbow Chasers is a collaborative project that I worked on last fall and winter, along with the fine Honest Brothers and local filmmaker Ben Jones. It follows 3 daring men who fight passionately for their cause despite its being frequently ridiculed and not taken seriously. The mockumentary also features the talents of Denver comics Nathan Lund, Chris Charpentier and Andrew Smyczek. Shot mostly using improvisation, the short episodes left out a lot of great moments. Enjoy a few of them (below), and stop by rainbowchasers.net for a few minutes to watch all 9 episodes. Also look forward to a short film, which contains some more new footage, coming soon.

See the rest after the jump.

Celebration of the Stache

The 8th biannual World Beard and Moustache Championships takes place this week in Anchorage, Alaska, showcasing some of the worlds' most elaborate facial hair in a one-day event that draws international crowds, press and smirks. Kick ass, Beard Team USA!

In celebration, please enjoy Mustache Melodrama, the very first Nix brothers short film. It was made for a production class in early 2005 and was loosely based on the event, held in Berlin that year.

Nothing To Sneeze At

We made this 16mm film at Colorado Film School 2 years ago, in Spring 2007. Our good friend Doug Ecks from Los Angeles flew out to Denver to act in it. The music is used with permission from the former band More Dogs of Baltimore (iTunes link). The film was an official selection of the 2008 Dam Short Film Festival. Enjoy!

Colfax Avenue

Watch this music video we just made. The song is by our favorite collaborator Walker Rose. We used all practical lighting for this one, kept it simple and handheld for a raw Colfax Ave kind of look. Sexy.
Cost: $0.00.
