Rainbow Chasers is a collaborative project that I worked on last fall and winter, along with the fine Honest Brothers and local filmmaker Ben Jones. It follows 3 daring men who fight passionately for their cause despite its being frequently ridiculed and not taken seriously. The mockumentary also features the talents of Denver comics Nathan Lund, Chris Charpentier and Andrew Smyczek. Shot mostly using improvisation, the short episodes left out a lot of great moments. Enjoy a few of them (below), and stop by rainbowchasers.net for a few minutes to watch all 9 episodes. Also look forward to a short film, which contains some more new footage, coming soon.

Thomas Barndt
Another filmmaker from Las Vegas who's work I really enjoy. I consider us lucky to have had our films shown along side his at CineVegas and DSFF. This one, The Walking Ink, is a fitting first exposure to Thomas Barndt's work.

Roger Erik Tinch
Nix bros' friend Roger Erik Tinch is a filmmaker and graphic designer from Las Vegas. Below are two of our favorites of his great films. The first, Technological Science, is hilarious and splendidly lo-fi. We collaborated on the second, Better Masque, in Summer 2005. Roger's cinematography and direction is distinct and unique, and it was fun working with him. In fact, all of his work is really great. Spend 15 minutes watching these films, then check out his website.

Direct to Your Door
You may recognize our friend Eddie Deirmenjian from his roll as Percy in the Nix brothers film Lowell Gleason Wears Glasses. In addition to being an incredibly diverse actor, he's also a great filmmaker and one of the founders of the Las Vegas production company The Group Collectively. Here's the trailer to his newest project, "Direct to Your Door."
If you like it, also check out his award winning super-short film "That's How Sinatra Rolls, Kid!"

Celebration of the Stache
The 8th biannual World Beard and Moustache Championships takes place this week in Anchorage, Alaska, showcasing some of the worlds' most elaborate facial hair in a one-day event that draws international crowds, press and smirks. Kick ass, Beard Team USA!
In celebration, please enjoy Mustache Melodrama, the very first Nix brothers short film. It was made for a production class in early 2005 and was loosely based on the event, held in Berlin that year.

Vegas in 500 Words

Frequent Nix brothers collaborator Walker Rose just finished this awesome installment for matadorlife.com's regular article, "My Hometown in 500 Words" on being from Las Vegas, NV. From the article:
Driving across the long, barren stretches of highway through the Mojave Desert, I get this bittersweet feeling of coming home after a long time of being away. I see the light rising up—the hellish illuminations of Las Vegas—a city cradled by mountains on all sides; it looks like a smoldering fire pit, or the mouth of a volcano ready to blow itself wide open.

Thor at the Bus Stop
Really looking forward to seeing Thor at the Bus Stop, the first feature by a couple of our Las Vegas friends and two wicked talented filmmakers Mike and Jerry Thompson. They just got news of its acceptance to CineVegas Film Fest this year, its U.S. premier. Congrats dudes!

Nothing To Sneeze At
We made this 16mm film at Colorado Film School 2 years ago, in Spring 2007. Our good friend Doug Ecks from Los Angeles flew out to Denver to act in it. The music is used with permission from the former band More Dogs of Baltimore (iTunes link). The film was an official selection of the 2008 Dam Short Film Festival. Enjoy!

Colfax Avenue
Watch this music video we just made. The song is by our favorite collaborator Walker Rose. We used all practical lighting for this one, kept it simple and handheld for a raw Colfax Ave kind of look. Sexy.
Cost: $0.00.
